New Rules For Vans Travelling To Europe
Why we are already ready
From 1 July 2026, any van used commercially to transport goods across European borders must carry a Smart Tachograph — and be overseen by a qualified Transport Manager. Handdels London is fully compliant ahead of the deadline.
Black-Box of conformity
What the law requires
NEW EUROPEAN LAWS
New European rules — which the UK has signed up to — mean that from 1 July 2026, VANS driving into Europe to deliver goods for events must be fitted with a special device called a tachograph. Think of it as a black box for vans: it automatically records how long the driver has been behind the wheel, when they took breaks, and when they rested.
Whether it is exhibition stands, event equipment, or merchandise heading to a show in Europe, Handdels London handles the entire journey on your behalf. We take care of all the legal, logistical and Customs requirements so you don’t have to — and with the new rules now in force, that peace of mind matters more than ever. Our fleet of vehicles including, Long-Wheel base and Luton box vans are all fully compliant and ready to go.
HANDDELS LONDON IS AHEAD OF THE GAME: Our vans are fully equipped, our licences are in order, and our Transport Manager is in post. There will be no disruption to your event deliveries.
TRANSPORT MANAGER
On top of this, a qualified Transport Manager must now oversee any business operating vans commercially into Europe. This is a new legal requirement — not optional.
WHAT THIS MEANS TO YOU
Event runs into Europe will need more planning time than before, especially where tight venue or build deadlines are involved. Please get in touch with your account manager as early as possible when booking European transport so we can make sure everything runs smoothly within the new rules.
Handdels London holds a Standard International Operator’s Licence. When you send your event goods with us into Europe, you can be confident they are in the hands of a fully licensed, government-approved operator — not someone cutting corners to get the job done cheaply.
DID YOU KNOW – Handdels London is 13 years old this week – Thank you for the support & we all look forward to supporting you & your customers for the next 13 years!
